The accused in the case are BNP, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists who are followers of Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury. Among them are District Jubo Dal Vice President Saber Sultan, Rewaz Uddin, Muhammad Sohel.

Raozan Police Station OC Monirul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed this information. Earlier, a clash took place between followers of Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury and followers of Golam Akbar Khandaker in Ward No. 1 of Raozan Municipality in Sartarghat area on Tuesday. More than fifty leaders and activists of both parties, including Golam Akbar Khandaker, were injured in the clash.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi issued a notice dissolving the North District BNP Convening Committee and suspending the post of Gias Quader Chowdhury. He also asked BNP Information and Research Secretary Azizul Bari to submit a written report on the incident to the party office within seven days.

In view of this, last Monday, Azizul Bari Raozan of the party, who was in charge of the investigation, came and investigated. Leaders of both parties and ordinary people were interviewed.

Syed Manjurul Haque, former general secretary of the municipal BNP, a follower of Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury, said, “Since the center is investigating, we did not file a case. However, BNP leaders and activists have been accused in the case filed by the followers of Golam Akbar Khandaker. This is really sad. Many of our leaders and activists were injured. We are not filing a case in the name of investigation. We will decide what to do after talking to senior party leaders.’

Upazila BNP joint convener Firoz Ahmed said, ‘The followers of Golam Akbar Khandaker have deliberately attacked our pre-announced program and have now filed a false case against us. We have been the victims of attacks and cases for 17 years even during the Awami League’s rule. Now we are again being sued by the followers of the alleged BNP leader.’

In this regard, Golam Akbar Khandaker told Prothom Alo this afternoon, ‘We were attacked, so the case was filed. There was a delay in filing the case because the leaders and workers were in the hospital. Many of my workers and I were beaten that day. We want a fair and just trial.’

Raujan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan told Prothom Alo that a person named Nasim Uddin filed a case in the afternoon regarding the clash between the two parties. The plaintiff is a BNP leader. Among the accused in the case are 129 people, including District Jubo Dal Vice President Saber Sultan, Rewaz Uddin, Muhammad Sohel.

Meanwhile, a total of 15 murders have occurred in Raozan since August 5 last year. Of these, 10 were political murders. During this time, clashes occurred between the two factions of BNP at least a hundred times. More than three hundred people were shot in these incidents. 35 to 40 cases were filed.
